Bake, Write, Craft

There is something about the fall weather that makes me want to 1) bake 2) write and 3) craft. I made oatmeal date muffins last weekend and have been enjoying them throughout the week as part of a healthy breakfast. Now, it’s time to write!

Recently I updated the colors of BeautyLoveSpirit from delicate pink to more subtle green nature-based tones. Soon, I’ll be working with the layout to create a more fluid and intuitive layout. I’ll also be adding pictures and ordering links to my handcrafted jewelry.

I make vintage-inspired earrings with faux pearls, Lucite flowers and elegant beads. They are designed in either antique brass or gun metal findings. These charming designs allow for one-of-a-kind or limited quantity styles. By crafting vintage style earrings I like to tell a story maybe their haunted blue colors for the fall or 60’s vintage looks inspired by Betty Draper from Mad Men. With each design you’ll find a whimsical personality that makes the wearer feel positively divine!

Is Poetry a Dying Art?

General small press publishers rarely pull in the big bucks. Poetry small press publishers have it even Poetry harder. Yet for hundreds of years poetry has been a venue for people to express themselves on all life issues: from love to hate from despair to happiness. Some of the greatest works we know of are poems . . . Shakespeare’s sonnets, Edgar Allen Poe's works, as well as a few childhood fairytales.

Yet, when I saw this article on PBS: Seattle Poetry Publisher Finds Method to Adapt to Changing Cultural Times, I was sad because it reflects how this powerful literary device is struggling to stay afloat. Take a few moments to read what a few passionate poetry fans have been doing to help keep this literary field (and new authors) going.
